future thoughts

I went to the Monash University Law talk today at school. Originally, I only went because my friends went and I pretty much had nothing else to do. Walking out of the room and collecting an Undergraduate Information booklet, I couldn’t help but find myself interested in doing a particular double degree that Monash Univeristy offers. Although I was never intent on doing a law course whatsoever, I’m currently considering the Bachelor of Science/Bachelor of Laws double degree (98.00 ENTER score anyone?). I figured that this would give me a good foundation to forensics, as it’d cover both science and legal aspects which forensics is deeply involved in. I’m doing Legal Studies at school at the moment, and it’s very interesting (can’t wait until we  start the Area of Study concerning criminal law!).  So pending I can get a 98.00 ENTER score, I’m leaning towards doing this double degree. Who knows, maybe in six years time, I’ll have two degrees under my belt. That’d be pretty awesome.

After having a long think about that double degree, I ended up researching more into the courses that Monash University offers. I haven’t really been researching Melbourne University simply because I’m not too keen on this Melbourne Model they’re bringing in right now. I’m pretty sure that the following will most likely (or definitely) be in my preferences when it’s time to send those in:

  • Bachelor of Science/Bachelor of Laws
  • Bachelor of Biomedical ScienceI’m considering doing Biomed. Science instead of mainstream Science. At this point, I’m finding myself slightly more attracted to this course rather than the broad Science one.
  • Bachelor of Science

I also researched Monash University Scholarships. The ones I’m most definitely going to apply for are the Monash Unviersity Merit Scholarship and the Monash University Science Scholarship – both of which I need a 95.00 ENTER to be eligible. Though the website says that I have to be “intending to enrol in any of the relevant Faculty of Science undergraduate programs at a Monash campus in Australia”, I’m not quite sure if I’m still eligible if I plan on doing a double degree. I shall find out about that soon.

Anyway, just thought I’d give a little bit of an update on my “future thoughts”. I reckon I’ll update this every now and then, or whenever I have a sudden realisation about a university course I’d like to enrol in. Ha.

Goodbye and take care.

EDIT: Last year’s minimum first round entry ENTER for Monash Uni’s Bachelor of Laws/Bachelor of Science double degree was 99.20. DAMN YOU MONASH UNI TALKER FOR SAYING IT WAS 98.00!! Hmph.

gah!

My mum came home with a new lipstick for me. It’s Estee Lauder’s Signature Hydra Lustre Lipstick… in 03-PINK CHAMPAGNE! It’s not some pale pink that goes on looking almost just as a shine, it’s a pretty obvious shade of pink. *gasp* PINK!

…and strangely enough, I actually like it. *sigh* I never thought I’d actually say that I like pink lipstick. Forgive me, for all this preparation for next Friday’s formal is getting to me. Well, at least I don’t have to buy a new lip gloss/lipstick. The gold casing looks quite flash I’d say.

On another note, happy birthday 18th to Son and Alex for tomorrow. I hope you both have an amazing one.

Goodbye and take care.

f***!

I’m screwing things up. I just wish things could go back to the way they were two weeks ago. When all you would do is smile and laugh, and I wouldn’t be making you cry and upsetting you with every single one of my outbursts at what you say. You need to understand that I can’t not be sorry. I am, because it kills me to know that I’m killing you on the inside. I’m struggling to get my head and emotions together, I just hope that the damage I’ve done can be reversed. I need to fix your heart before you can fix mine – hopefully it’s still beating for us.

I’m currently:

  • Sitting on the loungeroom floor on a pink cushion.
  • Watching the S.Williams v V.Williams Wimbledon final.
  • Drinking my daily mug of Lipton Jasmine Green Tea.
  • Having a “deep and meaningful” with Belinda.
  • Contemplating whether I should watch Grey’s Anatomy instead of the tennis.
  • Stressing that I have not found my formal dress, yet I’ve decided on every single other aspect of all things related to the formal.
  • Yawning and rubbing my eyes, but I’m not going to bed any time soon.

I miss it. The routine, the ‘not having to think about what you’re doing because it just happens’ sort of feeling, the consistency. Holidays can be such a pain in the ass sometimes. Urgh.

Goodbye and take care.

new surrender

This is something I’ve been meaning to post for an incredibly long time, well, ever since I first heard about New Surrender (Anberlin). I just came across it again and figured I take the opportunity to post this passage that Stephen Christian said about the meaning behind the name of their (then) new record.

we will all come to the point in our life where we have to admit that we
feel defeated, that something has conquered us.
we must change, not because we want to, but because we desperately
have to. we can not take life in its current suffocating state, even to
admit such desperation shows that we are feeling deserted,
wandering the barren desert,
a shell of our former selves.

it is only up from here, it is impossible to sink any lower into ourselves
or our circumstances.
but we can be salvaged, a deliverance.
no vice can stand, no fix can take.
the thorn in the side can be removed,
but you have to be willing to admit and surrender.
surrender your habits,
your lifestyle,
your past,
your present,
and your future.
this is your new surrender.
the new surrender.

new surrender.

Goodbye and take care.

alice in wonderland

Mia Wasikowska as Alice                                  Johnny Depp as the Mad Hatter

Helena Bonham Carter as the Red Queen          Anna Hathaway as the White Queen

Matt Lucas as Tweedledee and Tweedledum

I admit I was slightly frightened when I first saw these pictures from Tim Burton’s recreation of Alice In Wonderland due for release in 2010. But of course, I did now know why I reacted in this manner. This is Tim Burton we’re talking about. Although this is bound to be much scarier and be the recipient of many varying reviews and responses, I’m very much looking forward to viewing this film. I wasn’t a huge fan of Burton’s recreation of Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory, but nevertheless, I still believe Tim Burton is an amazing director/producer/writer/artist. I can’t wait to see the quirky and dark work of Mr. Timothy Walter Burton.

Goodbye and take care.

I went to Ikea with Belinda and her sister today to look at/buy stuff for their new apartment. As much as I love looking at fancy and decorative home furnishings, I have to admit, it was quite tiring. I saw quite a few things that looked quite quirky and stuff that I wouldn’t mind putting in my future house though. A painting of Audrey Hepburn caught my eye immediately, I mean, who doesn’t love Audrey Hepburn? The epitome of sophistication and beauty I say.

After venturing around Ikea for almost four hours, Bel and I were finally able to rest and have a bite to eat before I bought my navy blue pashmina (scarf) which I’ve been wanting for a while. We also made our way to JB Hi-Fi in the city so that Bel could spend her gift card that would’ve expired in two days. After an hour, we finally settled on buying Million Dollar Baby and American Gangster. Hopefully it was worth the hour we spent walking around the DVD aisles trying to find some decent movies. From what I’ve heard, they’re pretty top-notch films.

Anyway, I’m pretty tired and I’m off to transfer about 15GB of music from my old computer over to my laptop. Here’s to hours (and hours) of much needed patience.*sigh* I can just imagine my friend Cindy saying to me, “Patience is a virtue…”. Wise one she is.

Goodbye and take care.

Following on from my previous post. I went to Alice Euphemia after school today to have a look at their stock of Lucy Folk jewellery. I have to say that although I was lusting after the sterling silver Burger Ring necklace, I am now loving the bow pasta collection and the pretzel collection.

Just some more images of my new obsession. Thank you, Lucy Folk, for creating an amazing collection of jewellery!

Oh, and last day of Term 2 tomorrow!! I am so excited. Relaxation, shopping and sleeping in – who wouldn’t love that?! Happy school holidays, kiddos.

Goodbye and take care.

change

My momentary distraction from studying for my Methods SAC has led to a change in the layout of my blog. At times, I wish I was using Blogspot or Livejournal, because it allows me to create and edit my own layouts, but for now, I’m at ease with this new one. The change in layout has also prompted me to change my blog name. So goodbye ‘the clarity in the blur‘ and hello ‘points de la vie‘ . Now, I’m going to need someone who actually knows/speaks French to correct me if I’m wrong. According to Babel Fish Translation (ha), ‘specks of life‘ is ‘points de la vie‘. I’m sure someone will correct me sooner or later, if that translation is indeed incorrect.

I shall leave you all with some amazing (and DELICIOUS) works of art. LOVE IT!

If you can’t recognise what those two items above are – the first is a Sterling Silver Corn Chip Necklace, and the second is a Sterling Silver Popcorn Ring. For all lovers of food and jewellery, Lucy Folk is a Melbourne jewellery designer who creates absolutely AWESOME pieces out of sterling silver and gold using edible items such as corn chips, popcorn, BURGER RINGS, assorted pastas and even fruits! If I had the money, I’d buy myself a Sterling Silver Burger Ring Necklace. I know I’ve had my sights set out on the Tiffany & Co Bow Pendant (which I now have in my possession), but now I’m lusting after that darn Burger Ring necklace. Times are too tough right now for me to be forking out money for an inedible Burger Ring. I shall now continue drooling…

Goodbye and take care.

reappearance

Filed under: random — Tags: — [julia] @ 4:38 pm

It’s been a while since I’ve posted something here. Mid-year exams are done and I can sort of relax, even though I still have two SACs before this term is over. *sigh*

I watched The Illusionist on Thursday night with Belinda. I have to say, it was an excellent movie. My English teacher told me that this film ties in very well with In the Lake of the Woods, and now I can see why. The protagonist in the film is very reminiscent of John Wade – magic, disappearances, tricks. I don’t want to spoil anything for those that haven’t watched it, but there is so much mystery throughout the whole film… and THEN you get to the end and you think, “OMG! NO WAY! THAT’S CRAZY! WOWWWWW!” Well, that was my reaction. Ha. The things you would do for love, right? Ahh, I feel like watching this movie again. I absoutely love it.

Anyway, that’s it really. I’m off to do some homework and read a bit of Hard Times.

Goodbye and take care.
