happy new year

Filed under: friendship, people, random — [julia] @ 6:36 pm

*raises glass* Here’s to the year that would undoubtedly be the best year I’ve had so far. For all the ups and the downs, the goodbyes and the hellos, the new and the old; thank you.

In the eve of a brand new year, I take this opportunity to thank people, for making an impact on my life this year, whether it’d be big or small (in no particular order). Thank you…

  1. For being the one constant in my life; for keeping me on track.
  2. For slowly becoming the person I’ve always wanted you to be.
  3. For always making me happy, even though you’re 900km away.
  4. For always rocking out; for sharing that love.
  5. For every memory since then until now, and for the future.
  6. For being you, because nothing compares.
  7. For caring, after everything that’s happened.
  8. For our friendship becoming stronger this year.
  9. For starting something new.
  10. For being there, even though you feel as though you haven’t.
  11. For every laugh we’ve shared.
  12. For being awesome, that’s all I have to say really.

To everyone else (or those that couldn’t figure out if they were mentioned), you have not been forgotten. Thank you for every single thing this year; whether it was good or bad. It’s all made 2008 a stellar year. I want to wish each and every one of you a very safe and happy new year. All the very best for 2009, and may it be a wonderful year for all of you. God bless.

Goodbye and take care.

I did some reminiscing today. Looked through every single folder of photos on my computer. I got a good laugh out of many of them (especially the Geography trip ones from 2007). Check out my Facebook for my favourite happy snaps of 2006, 2007 and (the random ones of) 2008.

I love…

  • Belinda
  • One Tree Hill
  • Being extremely comfortable
  • Eating junk food
  • Cushions, pillows and blankets

…Let’s put all those together, yes? Yesterday, Belinda came over and we had our long-awaited One Tree Hill marathon. We watched all of season 5, and ended up sleeping at around 2.00-2.30am. Also bought more food than we needed, so now I have two half-empty bags of Red Rock Deli chips, half a cylinder of Pringles, a packet of Hundreds & Thousands biscuits and a big box of Ferrero Rocher (thanks Belinda, my mum totally loves you right now). Oh, I also have lots of ice cream in my fridge now too. Besides from the fact that we had lots and lots of junk food, and that watching One Tree Hill was very fun/funny; Belinda and I also took advatange of the many cushions I have in my lounge room (and then the extra two pillows and three blankets that came along afterwards with the mattresses). So every minute or so, one of us would throw/hit/shove/squash the other person with a pillow/cushion/blanket/everything mentioned; and then we’d end up apologising to the person.

Moments of pain and suffering:

  • I thought I jarred my finger when I tried to stop Belinda from squashing a cushion on me and then my finger went backwards painfully; but it’s all good.
  • Throughout the night, Belinda kept trying to make me eat a Ferrero Rocher chocolate (but I didn’t feel like it), so she ended up throwing a lot of them at me. One time, she threw the chocolate straight at my forehead and I admit, my eyes got a bit teary. It hurt quite a bit. She apologised like crazy, but then I threw one at her chest and that sort of made it even (and then I ended up apologising to her like crazy).
  • I kept flicking Belinda’s arms, even though she said that it didn’t hurt. She said that it stings a bit at first and then it goes away, but I kept flicking her too quickly, so the sting sort of just continued on from the sting of the previous flick. Ha. (Did that make sense?)
  • I also chose to flick Belinda with the hair elastics she had on her wrist. I continued the flicking today with the hair elastics, and they left bumpy, red marks on her wrist. (Belinda, I am SO SORRY for the marks I left on your wrist today; seriously sorry!)
  • At one point, Belinda was trying to keep me warm, so in wrapping a blanket around me, she ended up suffocating me with an extremely tight hug. It felt like my ribs were going to break.
  • Then there’s the usual pushing, shoving, poking, slapping and tickling that we always do. Ha.

It was awesome fun, but so bloody tiring. Here’s to us only getting 4 hours of sleep last night (and then waking up looking completely dead)! Haha. I’m so glad we were able to have our marathon and hang out. Thanks for an extremely awesome time and lots of fun, Belinda. I love you!

I think that’s it for my blog today.

“When life comes rushing at you from out of the darkness, who will you choose to face it with? Will it be someone you trust? Will they be wise? And will their love for you help them to guide you to the light? Or will they lose their way in the darkness. Will they make noble choices or will that person be someone untested? Someone new? Life comes rushing at you from out of the darkness. When it does – is there someone in your life you can count on? Someone who’ll watch over you when you stumble and fall and in that moment give you the strength to face your fears alone.” ~Lucas Eugene Scott, One Tree Hill

Five things:

  1. Happy birthday Jesus! I love you.
  2. Merry Christmas to everyone! May it be a safe, but joyous time for each and every one of you. Best wishes.
  3. Don’t drink and drive… NO ONE wants to be a bloody idiot.
  4. A prayer (or just keep a thought in mind) for those that are less fortunate than ourselves this Christmas.
  5. Be happy, stay healthy and have fun!

Goodbye and take care.

…and God Bless.

again?

I went shopping… again! Well, I actually wasn’t planning on going today because I wanted to sleep in. I woke up at 12.30pm, and was out of the house by 1pm, because my mum wanted to go to Highpoint. We only stayed there for about 2 hours though. I bought some basic tees for $20 from Grab, and then bought my dad some polos from Giordano. After much contemplation last night (well not really… probably about the 5 minutes or so I spoke with Belinda about my shoes) and the quick thinking in the 30 minutes I had at home this morning, I decided to exchange my shoes for another pair of a different colour. So now, my lovely Puma’s are purple, not red. After looking at the two pairs in the Hype DC store today, I can now see why I originally wanted purple… but thought it would be more logical to get red (because I have more clothes with red, rather than purple). Anyway, I’m pretty happy now. My dad wanted to give me more money to shop today (because my mum gave me money yesterday), but I refused to take it. I’ve decided I’m going to spend less from now until the end of Year 12. Money is way too distracting.  But, besides from the fact that I don’t get much gifts anymore (which I am cool with…and due to the fact that I don’t particularly receive gifts that graciously anymore, and that I sort of don’t want people to spend money on me *coughBELINDAcough*), all I really want for Christmas is for all my loved ones to be happy, healthy and having fun! (Yay for my attempt at alliteration! Ha). So that’s basically it. I’m going to Highpoint once again this Friday for Boxing Day sales, so hopefully I can get a couple more stuff… but if not, it’ll be good just to get out of the house and hang out with Belinda.

Anyway, here’s my awesome moment of the day! Ha. That sounds lame.
I went to Ozmosis to “attempt” to find something for my brother. One of the salesgirls saw that I was wearing my Anberlin tee, and then we had a 5-or-so minute conversation about Anberlin and Soundwave…

Girl: OMG! Anberlin! I’m seeing them at Soundwave!
Me: Oh damn, I’m not going! The festival sold out!
Girl: Really?! I bought my tickets yesterday! You should get them, I got ‘em at the newsagency near here…
Me: Oh wow. You excited?
Girl: Yeah! I’ve been wanting to see them for a while. Have you seen them before?
Me: Yeah, I saw them when they came last year with Copeland.
Girl: Damn! I wish I saw them! I’m really looking forward to Soundwave.
Me: You’re gonna have an awesome time. They’re amazing live. Did you know they’re playing a sideshow with Chiodos?
Girl: Are you serious?! No way! Are the tix on sale yet?
Me: Nah, I think it’s January 6th.
Girl: Oh ok. Cool. Oh… did you need any help with anything?
Me: ..Oh, haha, nah, I’m just having a look around. Thanks.
Girl: That’s cool.

She is so sweet. I officially give her the title of “Coolest Salesperson Ever!”.

Goodbye and take care.

Dig my title? Ha. I found it quite amusing when I first typed it out. Now that I keep reading it, I’m finding it a bit lame. Ahem.

I went to the city today to buy the rest of my school books. Then I bought a KFC Twister for lunch. (Oh how I have missed eating the beloved KFC Sweet Chilli Twister, ha). Walked from Melbourne Central to Flinders, and stopped by the PSC Skateboarding store on Swanston…

OMG! They’re closing down!!!!! Apparently all the stores are closing down, not just the Swanston St store! I’m quite shattered. I love PSC Skateboarding. I bought a new Zoo York tee for half price. It’s fair decent. I think my brother will be more shattered than I am though, a lot of his wardrobe is stocked full of Zoo York tees. I should tell him about their closing down sale. I wonder if you can get Zoo York tees from General Pants… *ponders* PSC Skateboarding shall be missed. (Oh, there’s a PSC at Highpoint! YES! Maybe I can find some more tees this Friday) *grins* Yay for Boxing Day sales!

I also went to Borders (which was so packed! …and I couldn’t find the book I wanted), The Basement (are they not stocking Mossimo anymore? I couldn’t find it anywhere), Jetty Surf,  and Sportsgirl (which happen to have some pretty sweet bags, Bel) prior to going to PSC Skateboarding. After PSC, I went to Retrostar Vintage and Dangerfield to have a look around. It was nice to go back into the city and have a bit of a shop around.

…Can you believe that all the above took place in about one and a half hours? I think that is THE shortest time I have ever been in the city for. Man, that is a seriously short amount of time. I was almost going to say that being in the city for that 1.5 hours isn’t worth the 40-minute train trip, but it was. Ha.

Current Wishlist:
Books: THE ORPHANED ANYTHING’S: Memoir of a Lesser Known by Stephen Christian, A Heartbreaking Work of Staggering Genius by Dave Eggers (Damn you Melbourne Central Borders for not having this book! Fingers crossed for Highpoint Borders)
Music: Day & Age – The Killers, As I Am (Limited Edition CD & DVD Combo) – Alicia Keys
DVD: Saturday Night Live – Best of Jimmy Fallon
Tees: New ANBERLIN merch! …and TWLOHA stuff too.

I guess that’s it for today. I wish each and every one of you a very Merry Christmas (or Hanukkah… or whatever type of occasion you and your family may celebrate!) and have a very safe and joyous New Year. Much love.

Goodbye and take care.

Soundwave Festival sold out. I’m cool with that. Soundwave announces Sideshows. Anberlin and Chiodos are playing a show together! Extremely happy. Show is +18s. Julia = Pissed off. DAMN YOU +18s GIGS! Anberlin better be coming back again after SW. Jack’s Mannequin too.

I am back! Well, I’ve been back since Friday morning, but I’m not jet lagged anymore! Hoorah!

I don’t really have much to blog about, except for the fact that I GOT MY PUMA’S ON FRIDAY!!!!!!! Yeah, I’ve been wanting these pair of Puma’s (shoes) for a while, and my brother bought them for me as a Christmas present. Yay! I’m totally digging the white RIBBON shoelaces! Ha.

So that’s it really… I can’t be bothered uploading pictures from my trip onto the blog seeing as there are so many, and I really don’t want to go through them all to find the good ones. I apologise if you’ve been waiting to see pictures.

Hope you’re all having an awesome holidays.
Now… I welcome back the QUOTE! Hehe.

12 more days…

So I’m home in 12 more days, but I actually leave Vietnam in 11. The only thing I’m really looking forward to in the next 12 days is the plane trip home. I love plane food! Ha.

I honestly can’t be bothered typing up some fancy blog about my trip so far, so all I’m going to say is:
- It’s been really good.
- The weather is very warm and extremely humid.
- I’ve gotten darker (but I’m probably still very white).
- I splurged on a leather jacket which made me decide to not buy anything else for the rest of the trip.
- The part about me not spending in the previous point only lasted for a day.
- I have many mosquito bites.
- Food in Vietnam is so good.
- I have definitely gained weight. I reckon I eat about 6 times a day (not including snacks).
- Oh, I saw pink dolphins in Singapore.
8 more days!
- I became addicted to white chocolate mocchas in Singapore. Thank you Starbucks. *rolls eyes* I’m sort of craving one right now…
- I accidentally killed a hermit crab. RIP precious hermit crab I took home from the beach.
- ChocWedge imitation ice cream in Vietnam is so dodgy. Apparently it’s VERY popular. Ahem. BUT ice cream in Singapore is so cheap (and the real thing)!!!
- The laser/light show I saw at the island resort in Singapore was amazing.
- Car rides in Vietnam make me feel sick.
- There’s this amazing bridge in Vietnam and it looks so awesome. Who was it made by? AUSSIES!
- I love my aunt’s tv. It has so too many channels. Favourite show to watch here: Saturday Night Live. Absolutely hilarious.
4 more days!
- I had my very first mudbath today. It was awesome, and so relaxing. I’d come back every year just for this.
- I’m currently staying at Green Hotel Nha Trang. The outside of the building is GREEN. It’s so cool…
- We had a candlelit dinner last night at a pretty top-notch restaurant because the electricity went out. It was quite a pleasant evening until the electricity came back on and the whole place was extremely bright.
- Hotels in Nha Trang are absolutely beautiful (and right near the beach… lovely view!). In reference to my point about mudbaths, if I was to stay anywhere in Vietnam, I’d stay in Nha Trang.

I think I shall update this list as I go along…

Goodbye and take care.
