WARNING: This is a bit of a boring blog… if you’re not Belinda. Ha. Seriously though.

Dedicated to B: Let us reminisce the year it has been. We’ve had our fair share of ups and downs, even though some may believe that we probably couldn’t ever have any “downs”. Ha. *flashes back to the past*

Thursday, 31st January, 2008

In the school hall on the first day back and April calls me over. She introduces me to a new student in Year 11, Belinda. This was the start of a new friendship.

Thursday, 28th February, 2008

I invited Belinda to her first gig. The Plain White T’s. I figured I’d ask her, seeing as I knew she liked them. This pretty much made us “tight” as some would say. She got her first pick too. I’d like to say I played an important part in her pick-gaining process. It was a great night.

Monday, 19th May, 2008 – Friday, 23rd May, 2008

The week of my 17th birthday. Let’s just say that having a best friend like Belinda means you’re going to be very extremely spoilt. Every day of this week, I was given a gift from her. Chocolate, candy/mints (I have a love for Jila Mints), the cutest bracelet ever, (insert something else neither of us can remember) AND tickets to Panic At The Disco.

Saturday, 5th July, 2008

Belinda and I decided to line up (and save a good spot in the line for the others) outside the HiFi Bar at 10am for The Getaway Plan’s gig. The doors opened around 2.30pm; we were there for a while. Totally worth it though.

Monday, 14th July, 2008 – Friday, 18th July, 2008

Well, Belinda’s birthday was on a Sunday, so I decided to do the “one gift every day” thing a bit early. A mixed CD, chocolates, a drawing, a card/letter and (insert something else neither of us can remember). Ha.

Saturday, 23rd August, 2008

I couldn’t go to Panic At The Disco with Belinda, so she went with Lisa.

Monday, 25th August, 2008

Bel got me an awesome The Academy Is… t-shirt from the gig. I still remember Bel sending me text messages hinting me to look in my bag after school, because she figured that I hadn’t found it in my bag where she hid it (seeing as I hadn’t texted her saying anything…). Smart girl. I couldn’t believe she got me it when I found it. I was a very happy girl that afternoon.

Thursday, 28th August, 2008

I wrote an extremely emotional blog on this day. It pretty much changed the future of our friendship. Hearts were opened, fears overcome, and things changed for the better.

Friday , 19th September, 2008

The day we planned to give Vania her birthday scrapbook. Let’s just say it was extremely stressful. Bel ended up running around the entire school searching for people who hadn’t given me their messages, whilst I was frantically decorating/finishing every other page. Bel made the cake too.

Bel and I also gave Maritza a birthday present. We bought a teddy bear and dressed him up as a GANGSTER bear! Ha. Maritza tells me that she calls him Oscar. Not very gangster, but she insists that we should name the bear and not her. I remember crashing the Dryads’ lipsynching rehearsals to give her the present, and she gave me one of the tightest hugs ever. Then she showed the bear off to all her Dryads friends. Lol.

Thursday, 9th October, 2008

I found out something today that rocked our friendship a bit. Fortunately, we got through it, and our friendship became much stronger because of it.

Monday, 20th October, 2008 – Friday, 24th October, 2008

This was the last week of Year 11. I decided to do another “one gift every day” thing, but as a Christmas present. I’m pretty stoked about this one, because I planned everything out really carefully. The first day involved me placing a large (and nicely decorated) box (in which I put a gift in every day) in her locker, with Fererro Rocher choclates in them. Each chocolate had a message attached to it. She ended up getting a toy elephant (it made noises!), a card, a book and a picture I made.

Monday, October 27th, 2008

I went to school to do some exam-study with Belinda. At one point, we decided to have a lunch break; but in the end, the break turned into a 2-hour session of walking around and doing nothing. It was fun though.

Monday, 17th November, 2008 – Thursday, 20th November, 2008

We hung out every day, seeing as I was leaving on the 23rd. I think I got extreme Belinda-withdrawal symptoms after those four days. Lol.

Friday, 19th December, 2008

Bel greeted me at the airport when I arrived back in Melbourne. Definitely made my day; and the cookies she made were very nice.

Sunday, 28th December, 2008 – Monday, 29th December, 2008

I’m getting lazy.

Monday, 12th January, 2009 – Tuesday, 13th January, 2009

Who could forget Belinda’s hood? I ventured to Sale, and it was awesome.

Monday, 19th January, 2009

One of the best days ever.

Thursday, 29th January, 2009

I was looking through my 2008 school diary when I noticed we started school on the 31st. That led me to the thought that in two days, it’d be one year since I met Belinda.

Saturday, 31st January, 2009

At 12.01 am, Belinda sends me an extremely lovely text message wishing me, “HAPPY ONE YEAR SINCE I MET YOU!” and other things. Ha. Time has flown by so quickly. It’s strange to think we’ve been friends for a year now. I forgot that it was the 31st until she texted me. Horrible, yes?

Belinda, thanks for an amazing year and for being such a beautiful best friend. I hope 2009 (and beyond) will be just as awesome (or ever better) as 2008. I love you.

Goodbye and take care.

Things I STILL NEED to do by the end of this summer holidays:

  1. Do Chemistry homework. Set homework is complete, and my glossary book is up-to-date!
  2. Do some textbook reading for Legal Studies.
  3. Do some Methods revision.
  4. Go to Queen Victoria Market. This won’t be happening at all, seeing as every day until the end of the holidays is 40+ degrees. Chapel St was just as good for browsing though.
  5. Get myself (or receive) a pair of these. Courtesy of Belinda. After a couple of hours discussing/me not taking them, I finally agreed to accept them. They’re pretty… awesome-looking!

Those WERE the five out of my twenty things I still had to do on my list; and now, I only have two left! I sort of don’t feel as though I SHOULD do the last two (seeing as it’s just extra work), but hopefully I’ll be able to do a bit of both before Monday comes.

————————————————————————-

Yesterday.

Got to the city at around 11am, but seeing as Bel and I arranged to meet at 11.30am; I decided to go the bank to deposit some money, buy (and finish drinking) my Starbucks Grande White Chocolate Moccha that I’ve been craving pretty much since I left Singapore and then browse the newsagency for some coloured envelopes (for English).

As usual, Bel was late and then we headed off to begin our chocolate/cake-eating day that we planned. Oh, and for those that haven’t noticed the pattern; whenever Bel and I plan our days and write out a timetable of when we’re going to do things, we NEVER follow it/stick to our plan… EVER! Our original plan involved going to Churros, Degraves St, Darrell Lea, Brunetti’s, Starbucks, Haigh’s Chocolates, The Chocolate Box, Koko Black, Laurent Cakes, Mrs Fields, Michel’s Patisserie and Safeway; to eat/taste/sample/buy cakes and chocolates. Then we planned to head back to Bel’s to hang out for the rest of the day.

  • After meeting up, we went to Brunetti’s and shared a slice of some flourless mud cake (I think?), which was mighty delicious. We gave it a 15 out of 20, on the basis of four different crtieria. Smoothness (4 out of 5), flavoursome-ness (5 out of 5), price (2 out of 5) and overall taste (4 out of 5). Even though we thought up a criteria for how we were going to rate each cake/chocolate we tasted, we didn’t end up rating anything after that.
  • Belinda wanted to try the White Chocolate Moccha that I had but iced, so we went to Starbucks and got her her cold drink. I got a coupon for two dollars off when I went earlier in the day, so the drink was only $3.25 for a Grande! Cheap!
  • Darrel Lea was our next stop, and we just browsed through all the different chocolates/candy without buying anything.

In between Darrell Lea and our next chocolate store, we went to Provider to look at shoes. There wasn’t much there, but Bel and I saw this awesome-looking knuckle-buster necklace! It was so cool.

  • The Chocolate Box; we bought a macadamia truffle and a white chocolate truffle, but we didn’t eat them because we were so full. Our drinks pretty much filled us up.
  • We made our way to the Block Arcade and ventured into Haigh’s Chocolates. Belinda bought something with turkish delight in it, and a dark chooclate truffle. The lady who served us also gave us some free chocolates too.
  • Our stay in Koko Black was quite lengthy, even though we didn’t buy anything. I did see the chocolate heart lollipop that Bel bought me for my birthday though, which I then gave to her to eat. Ha.

We still hadn’t eaten any of the chocolates we bought, so we ended up carrying them around for an EXTREMELY long time. The story of their melting will come later in this blog. Bel and I went to the Post Office to try and find my envelope, but we couldn’t find any. As I was browsing through the card section, I saw this really cute one with a polar bear on it that was crying, and the message inside said, “S’no the same without you…”. It took me a while to recognise the play on words. We went to Melbourne Central before deciding to do some window shopping instead. So we continued to look at bags, shoes and sunnies until we ran out of decent stores to go into.

  • Ventured to Michel’s Patisserie and Mrs Field’s, but the sight of all the chocolate and cakes just made us feel sick; so we sat down and rested for a bit.

Our shoe/sunnies/bag browsing continued at QV in Hype DC and Glue. Bel actually found my pair of sunnies in Glue, but they were the wrong colour. For a while now, she’s been trying to find them, but she’s had no luck.

  • Suga; we bought a packet of funky mix, which is just random lollies and stuff. Some of the messages in the lollies made no sense whatsoever.

Bel had to go to Melbourne Uni to collect some stuff, so we went to Melbourne U after that. The place we went to had really cool stools that reminded me of tennis balls. The moment we walked in, I shoved Belinda out of the way so I could sit on the green one. Ha. After that, we decided that we couldn’t be bothered doing any more of our chocolate/cake day, but we preferred to do some more shoe browsing, so our next destination was Chapel St (mostly because that was the final and closest place to find a General Pants store in the city). So we train-ed to South Yarra, and walked our way in the heat to Chapel St.

Did a LOT of walking where we dropped by General Pants and Belinda found my sunnies. I ended up leaving her in the store to go to the Puma store across the road in the hope that she wouldn’t buy them… My plan didn’t work. Next thing I know, we’re standing on opposite sides of the traffic lights and she’s holding a General Pants bag in her hand. I didn’t take the sunnies, so we continued walking to find Belinda’s Supra kicks. A store called Dakota501 actually stocked her purple pair, but didn’t have her size; so we sort of just sat there for a while looking at this massive shoe. Speaking of massive shoes, a lot of the stores we walked into/walked past had a MASSIVE shoe on display. When I say MASSIVE, I mean that I could probably sleep in it if I curled up just a tiny bit. It was crazy!

I saw a pair of gold on white Adidas kicks in Dakota501 that looked pretty sweet. I’m not a fan of the colour gold (I prefer silver), but gold just looks awesome on shoes. I can’t deny it. I’m still liking those Nike Dunks I keep seeing in Foot Locker too. Damn Foot Locker. I should really stop pointing out and looking at shoes/things I like with Belinda, because she always mumbles something incoherently whenever I seem interested in something. Every now and then, she’d ask me whether I like one thing/pair of shoes more than the other… A shifty mind at work, I say. Ha.

Anyway, back to the story… Belinda and I ended up finding two stores that stocked her purple Supra’s, but none in her size. I could so tell that she was shattered, especially when the second store had a size 5 (which she tried to fit her foot into). So hopefully, she’ll be able to buy her kicks over the internet, because apparently the Supra warehouse isn’t stocking any more shoes to the stores. After that, we decided to walk back to South Yarra station and head back into the city to eat.

When we were at the station, I decided to take the chocolates (which were in a small plastic bag) out of my bag to eat, but they were all melted. It pretty much looked like a chocolate-marble milkshake gone wrong (mostly due to the clumps and piece of turkish delight). It didn’t help either, when Belinda kept squishing the liquid around in the bag. It looked quite sickening. We ended up taking spoons from the McDonald’s Cafe (after we arrived back in the city and had some food) and sat by the waves eating the melted chocolate. It was about 6pm when we got to the waves, and we just sat/lay there talking about different things. Most interestingly, was our talk about who we thought were the hottest tennis players, soccer players, swimmers, actors and musicians. Ha. At one point, I couldn’t stop talking about Novak Djokovic (lol), so Belinda just went completely silent whilst I (sort of) fantasised about all these different things. Ahem.

I was intent on taking my 7.35pm train home, so while we were waiting at Flinders, Belinda was still trying to get me to take the sunnies. Because I wanted her to take the packet of Suga lollies, she came up with the compromise that If I take the sunnies, she’d take the lollies. That received an immediate refusal from myself. So in between boarding my train and Belinda getting off at Melbourne Central (4 minutes), I decided to compromise with her by saying that if I took the sunnies (her face lit up the moment I said this), she couldn’t buy me certain things that I know she is shiftily planning to buy at some stage (smile instantly disappears);  which then led her to not want a compromise. In the end, I decided to take them. It was a nice to see Belinda’s face light up again.

After a long day, I came home and found out that Novak Djokovic retired from his match against Andy Roddick due to heat exhaustion/illness. Poor bugger. I spent the rest of the night working on my Chemistry glossary book, watching House with my brother, and then talking to Belinda. Despite from the heat, it was an extremely nice day overall.

Keep hydrated this week. It’s gonna be smokin’ hot.

Goodbye and take care.

January 20, 2009

tres grandiose!

The blog everyone (well, mostly Belinda and Millie) has been waiting for. I’m going to be a bit boring and do a recount blog; but ONLY because yesterday was one of the BEST days I’ve ever had. Seriously. Prepare yourselves… it’s going to be extremely long (and boring…). Ha. Here’s what Belinda and I had originally planned to do…

-Go to the city, have lunch, buy Millie’s card and my stuff for English, get ice cream, go to Melbourne Park, go shopping for Bel’s stuff and then hang out at the gardens/waves until around 6pm.

Here’s what actually happened…

So to start off, I woke up at 9am to get ready to go to the city to hang out with Belinda. As I was eating my breakfast, I was watching 9am with David and Kim (on Channel 10) and there was a segment about children who have drug problems, and how their parents deal with that, etc. I found the introduction slightly amusing ONLY because the song they played before the segment started was How to Save a Life by The Fray. Where did I go wrong? … I couldn’t help but chuckle at that.

So I left the house at 10am, and the moment I stepped outside, I was hit by the sudden heat which wasn’t very pleasant. On the way to the station, my mum said that I was going to die. I almost did die a couple of times yesterday. Kudos to whoever invented the air conditioner; legendary I say. Anyway, I took the 10.16am train to Footscray, because that’s where I was meeting Bel after her dentist appointment. We were meant to meet up at 11am, but I got there at around 10.40am, so I decided to walk to Kmart to buy Millie her (extremely belated) birthday card. By the time I walked back to the station, I felt like I was going to die. That was the first “This heat is going to kill me” moment. Belinda was about 10 minutes late (not surprised) and we train-ed to the city. First funny moment of the day: Belinda almost falling as she was stepping onto the escalators at platform 4 and 5. Funny at the time, might not seem so right now.

We ended up going to Bel’s apartment so she could drop her stuff off and get other things for the day. I reckon we stayed there for almost an hour before we decided to head out to lunch. While at Belinda’s place, I wrote Millie’s birthday card, even though I preferred to just text her (like I was doing all morning).

So moving on, after writing Millie’s card, we finally decided to head out to lunch at around 12-ish. We almost died on the tram. “This heat is going to kill me” moment number two. It was way too hot. The Victorian Government seriously needs to do something about its public transport system. It’s outrageous. *shakes head*

Before buying lunch, I had to go and withdraw money, so we went to the ATM which just so happened to be outside the Footlocker store. I saw these awesome-looking Nike Dunks by the entrance; the colours (green, blue and white) looked so good together. When we walked in, Belinda showed me the pair of Puma First Round’s that look oh-so similar to her A*Life ones, but they weren’t as nice. From there, we stumbled into General Pants & Co and Ozmosis to look at sunnies.

Bel shouted me a Cheeseburger and an Oreo McFlurry (only because she shotgun-ed shouting me them last night) and she got herself a Cheeseburger as well. She also decided to get some sushi and one of those crepe things near Boost. Just looking at them and smelling them made my stomach feel sick. Kudos to her for being able to eat all the food; I probably would’ve chucked up if I ate all of that. Oh, funny moment number two! Bel almost fell AGAIN going up the escalators. Clumsy one. Hehe. So as we were walking from along Swanston St to get to the Londsale St tram stop (going towards Flinders St), we walked past Hype DC and saw these awesome pair of Puma First Round’s!! Belinda pretty much fell in love again (seeing as she fell in love with her Supra’s prior to seeing this new pair). Besides from the slightly odd-looking purple on the side, the shoes looked pretty sweet. So we ended up staring into the store for a while before a tram came… a hot and incredibly packed tram. “This heat is going to kill me” moment number three.

By the time we got to Flinders St, the tram stop was so packed because we were on the St Kilda Beach tram, so there were all these teenagers pushing the people getting off so they could get on. It was CRAZY packed I say. Instead of tram-ing to Melbourne Park (where the Australian Open is being held), Bel and I ended up walking there along the Yarra River. That was part 4 of “THIGTKM”. We eventually got there and bought a gift for Millie (which she will soon see, thanks to Express Post) at the Australian Open merchandise store. For a while, we stood by the ticket outlets just contemplating on whether we should get ground passes or not, but they were more expensive than I thought they’d be, so we decided to just sit on the grass outside Melbourne Park. Here’s the exciting bit… (Which happened around 1.30-ish)…

As we were sitting and trying to keep ourselves cool… a lady randomly came up to us asking if we wanted tickets into Rod Laver Arena. She had two tickets to give away because her and her husband were leaving for Sydney and they only had time to watch one match, so she asked us if we wanted to take her tickets so they wouldn’t go to waste. For a moment, I thought she was kidding, but it was all legitimate. She was the sweetest lady ever; Belinda and I couldn’t stop talking about how nice she was! Well… we still can’t; she was just SO nice. So that pretty much made our day, WE GOT FREE TICKETS TO ROD LAVER ARENA! Oh, and they were damn good ones too! Our seats were four rows from the front on the side (opposing the umpire) of the court; which in my opinion, are the best seats you could ever get (the view of the entire court is perfect). Even though the sun was blistering hot on that side, I was just pretty darn excited that I got to watch some matches. Best thing about it all… [Millie, get excited baby!]… I got to see my two FAVOURITE tennis players in the world… my two FAVOURITE Serbians… JELENA JANKOVIC and… NOVAK DJOKOVIC! *goes berserk*

When I entered Melbourne Park and saw that Novak Djokovic was playing in Rod Laver Arena, I got extremely excited. I also got a bit (or a lot) excited when I saw his massive face on a billboard. I told Belinda when we were leaving that I could stare at him all day. Ha. He is so cute! Anyway, both players won their first round matches pretty easily; thought I did get a bit nervous when Djokovic was down 4-0 in the third set. I also loved how Jelena wore a pretty green dress, and Novak wore green shorts with his white shirt. Both looked oh-so stylish. Belinda also noted that he had awesome shoes; they were silver. Hehe. Oh, I read in the newspaper that Novak designed those shoes himself for Adidas! A man of many talents!

Bel ended up leaving the arena a couple of times to get us some sunscreen (oh hello not-so-nice-looking sunburn on my shoulders!) and me a hat. Once you leave, you have to wait for a very long time before you can re-enter; so that was incredibly sweet of her. So thanks Bel, for saving me from dying in Rod Laver Arena (THIGTKM moment number five). We left our seats during the final set of Novak’s match because the heat was just too unbearable, so we walked to the other side of the arena and sat/stood there until the end of the match. I ate my cheeseburger then (thank God it didn’t go off!), and drank all of Belinda’s water because I started to feel a bit faint. The cheeseburger made me feel SO much better though. Oh, and I was extra careful in eating it, so that I wouldn’t drop anything! Ha. At the end of the match, Belinda went down to the exit to try and get Novak’s autograph but there was way too many people there, and the security lady (or whatever she was) was being a bitch to Belinda and wouldn’t let her pass on one of sides. After we watched Jankovic’s and Djokovic’s matches (which was around 5pm), we ended up walking around in circles around Rod Laver Arena to find an exit (THIGTKM moment number six). By the time we actually found it, we were pretty tired so we just sat outside the Melbourne Park gates where there was lots of grass and lots of shade.

So we ended up sitting/laying there from about 5 to 7.10-ish before we figured it was a good time to leave. I was planning on taking my 6.05pm train home, but that plan went out the window the moment I asked Bel what time it was, and she looked at her watch and said, “6.05pm”. This happened MANY times whilst we were sitting there. Oh, and this too…

Julia: Did you want to go? We can go if you want…
Bel: Did you want to go? You want to go!
Julia: I never said I wanted to go! I was just wondering if you wanted to go.
Bel: You were thinking about going, so you totally want to go!
Julia: I don’t want to go! I probably should… but I don’t want to.
Bel: So let’s go.
Julia: So you want to go? Ok, let’s go.
Bel: I don’t want to go, do you want to go?!

Something along those lines… We had a couple of those conversations mixed in with the “time-checks” as I like to call them, and the other random stuff we talked about.

We did a bit of cam-whoring also (click me! if you want to see) and a lot of relaxing. Those two hours were really awesome, just sitting around, talking, escaping the heat, playing slaps, attempting to hold grudges (I tried oh-so hard, but I just couldn’t), craving green gummy lollies… etc. Ha.

When we ACTUALLY decided to go, we walked from Melbourne Park back to Federation Square so that I could get Bel her slurpee that I shotgun-ed to shout her. Then the time came when I figured I should return to a place called home. My 7.35pm train was delayed by 8 minutes, so we just spoke about my sunburnt shoulders and how bad it was until my train came. Ha. I was so glad that we got a new train and it wasn’t that crowded because I would’ve had another THIGTKM moment if one of those old, green trains arrived at the platform. Bel ended up train-ing to Footscray with me, even though I knew she was tired, especially from walking (yet she wouldn’t go home when I told her too). Love, I’m seriously going to cut back on the walking with you. I apologise for walking too quickly and for walking too much. You HAVE to tell me when you’re tired, so we can rest your legs, yes? Awesome.

I got home at around 8.30pm feeling a bit tired, but I had an extremely awesome day! So much fun and excitement… actually, almost TOO much fun and excitement I’d say. Haha.

Woah, the end! Remember to keep yourself hydrated in this extreme heat! Slip Slop Slap if you’re going out into the sun.

Goodbye and take care.

P.S – Millie: Belinda and I hope you like your gift (when you receive it). I wish you could’ve been in Melbourne to watch Jelena and Novak with us. Happy (extremely belated) 16th birthday. I LOVE YOU!

Oh my! I forgot to add something in!! Funny moment number three: Belinda being confused as to how to enter Melbourne Park (which basically involved scanning our ticket and pushing the turnstiles to get through). Bel, on the otherhand, didn’t know how to scan her ticket; and when she did, she didn’t know that you had to push through the turnstiles. So instead, she attempted to squeeze by the side, until one of the ladies who worked at Melbourne Park told her to push the turnstile. I just stood on the other side watching/laughing, oh, and attempting to help her get through. Hahaha. Seriously funny.

As previously mentioned, I went to Sale on the 12th and came back on the 13th. It was an extremely enjoyable trip. Seeing as I can’t be bothered typing up a whole blog about everything that was fun and exciting, I shall link you all to another blog that pretty much outlines everything that happened. Click here.

I’ve been watching a lot of tennis lately, and I’m loving it. I’m so excited for Monday (when the Australian Open begins). I still have a love for Novak Djokovic, which evolved this time last year. His form hasn’t been too great in the tournaments leading up to the Open though, but let’s hope he goes very far when the Grand Slam begins. Oh, just thinking about the Australian Open is making me excited!

I’m looking forward to the next week. It’s going to be freaking hot, but I’ll be out and about trying to enjoy the weather around the city; so that should be ‘tres grandiose’ (French for ‘very awesome/grand’ according to an online translator found off Google search)!!! Oh, about the French… Yesterday, as I was watching a tennis match between Richard Gasquet (of France) and some other dude, I had the sudden urge to speak French. So when I was speaking to Belinda, I kept answering her questions and randomly typing things in French; it was fun while it lasted.  I guess that’s it for today.

Goodbye and take care.

Despite the past couple of days, I’ve managed to get through today reasonably ok. I woke up early and went to church today. For youth worship, we sang ‘How Great is our God’, and if it weren’t for the fact that I was surrounded by a lot of people, I probably would’ve cried. That song has an extremely special place in my heart. I’m glad I went today.

I got home and watched tennis (Samantha Stosur of Australia versus Serena Williams of USA; SERIOUSLY EPIC MATCH!); and then contemplated going out to the city because belinda texted me to. Then I noticed that there weren’t any cars at home to drive me out to the station, and buses run every 40 minutes; so that left me to watch more tennis.

I went to iron a whole heap of clothes that needed to be ironed, and in the process, cleaned out my wardrobe! Woohoo! Another thing is checked off my list. I decided to go rummaging through my mum’s wardrobe, and I found a daggy looking pair of denim shorts. I’m probably going to wear them… after I fix the hems and fold them up. I must say though, the crotch area of the shorts pisses me off insanely, but I will get over it… eventually. I also found a fair decent belt; very “vintage” looking.

Just logged onto MySpace about 10 minutes ago, and I read a bulletin posted by Cobra Starship about Gabe Saporta’s Top 8 of  ‘08 (in music). My, oh my; Gabe Saporta is absolutely hilarious. I think reading his comment about MGMT’s Electric Feel is right up there in the highlights of my day.

» MGMT, ‘Electric Feel:’ I really only liked this song when I thought the lyrics were, ‘Ooh girl, club you like a baby seal.’ Then learned the real lyrics and hated it. Then it showed up on ‘Gossip Girl’ and I loved it again.

» Cobra Starship, ‘I Kissed a Boy:’ Like I said, songs are always better if you make up your own lyrics.

…and THAT is the reason why he is so cool. *bows down to Gabe Saporta*

I shall now continue to read The Shark Net, and then spend a while deciding on what I should wear for the next two days. Tomorrow, I’m off to the land where kids like Belinda are raised… or Sale, whatever you want to call it. Ha. Should be fair decent hanging out with Bel, Jen, Ruyi and Vania. Catch ya, kiddos.

Goodbye and take care.

I’m feeling a bit weird at the moment. I don’t even know how to describe it. But a picture is worth a thousand words, right? I love this one right now. So simple, so beautiful.

Maybe that’s a clue. Time to decipher the mystery.

Goodbye and take care.

Things to do by the end of this summer holidays (in no particular order):

  1. Finish writing notes for In The Lake of the Woods. Six and a half pages (in Microsoft Word) worth of quotes and character analysis; I am so glad this one is done.
  2. Finish reading and writing notes for Hard Times. Didn’t end up writing notes, but my book is FULL of annotations. Difficult but enjoyable read.
  3. Do Chemistry homework. Set homework is complete, but I’m currently working on my glossary book (which is actually fun, ahem).
  4. Do some textbook reading for Legal Studies.
  5. Read A Streetcar Named Desire. Even though it was incredibly short, I thoroughly enjoyed reading it. I actually want to rent the film adaptation now.
  6. Read The Shark Net. It took me a while, but I did it. Only one more novel to get through…
  7. Complete Specialist Maths chapter review. I wouldn’t have been able to do this without Belinda’s help. Thank you so much. I will slowly grow to love Specialist Maths…
  8. Eat pancakes… but not too many. So I only had one, because I was starting to feel a bit sick, but I cut an awesome love heart out of the second one! It was so beautiful.
  9. Go to the park and just lay on the grass for hours. Yay for Melbourne Park! It was seriously awesome to just relax, especially from all the heat.
  10. Go back to The Waves for a good couple of hours. Only stayed there for about 1.5 hours, but it was totally worth it. I would seriously stay there forever if I could.
  11. Spend a WHOLE day watching Australian Open tennis matches on tv. Yay! Tennis has been awesome. I’ve done this one a couple of days now, ha. GO SERBIA!!
  12. Contact my textbooks. It took me about 3 hours, but I got there. My back hurts now though…
  13. Send Millie a birthday package. Even thought her birthday was on the 16th, I’ve finally managed to send it off (with the help of Belinda, THANK YOU!). Hopefully she’ll like it.
  14. Do some Methods revision.
  15. Go to Queen Victoria Market. This won’t be happening at all, seeing as every day until the end of the holidays is 40+ degrees. Chappel St was just as good for browsing though.
  16. Attempt to play some Jack’s Mannequin on the piano. Yay! I haven’t touched the piano ever since I quit, so I’m still glad I can play something. I’m currently learning to play Dark Blue by Jack’s Mannequin.
  17. Only spend $21.85 (seeing as I only have $21.85 in my wallet right now) I haven’t actually done it, I’m just choosing to scrap it off my list. It’s impossible for me to do this one.
  18. Rearrange everything on my walls. It doesn’t look AS good as it did previously, but I’ll get used to it. The only thing I’m really liking is the swapping of positions between my tour posters and my Frankie posters.
  19. Clean out my wardrobe. Managed to make it look reasonably tidy… it probably won’t stay like this for very long though. Oh, and I found my Converse t-shirt that I thought I lost! YAY!
  20. Get myself (or receive) a pair of these. Courtesy of Belinda. After many hours of dicussion, I finally agreed to accept them. They’re pretty… awesome-looking!

So I’m not quite sure about no.20, as they do cost me more than $21.85, so let’s hope I can still complete both! *nudges older brother* Ha. I hope to be able to do everything that’s school-related, because really, I shouldn’t need to make myself a list to have to do those. But heck, making lists is fun!

Goodbye and take care.

Kudos to One Tree Hill and it’s scriptwriters for including such amazing quotes, especially for the character, Lucas Eugene Scott. I particularly like his voice-overs at the beginning and/or end of an episode. Always profound. I’ve posted one of my favourite quotes in a previous entry, but I thought I’d post these two today.

There are moments in our lives when we find ourselves at a crossroads. Afraid. Confused. Without a roadmap. The choices we make in those moments can define the rest of our days. Of course, when faced with the unknown, most of us prefer to turn around and go back. But once in a while people push on to something better. Something found just beyond the pain of going it alone. And just beyond the bravery and courage it takes to let someone in. Or to give someone a second chance. Something beyond the quiet persistence of a dream. Because it’s only when you’re tested, that you truly discover who you are. And it’s only when you’re tested, that you discover who you can be. The person you want to be does exist. Somewhere on the otherside of hard work and faith and belief… and beyond the heartache and fear of what lies ahead.

Remember tonight, for it is the beginning of always. A promise. Like a reward for persisting through life so long alone. A belief in each other and the possibility of love. A decision to ignore, simply rise above the pain of the past. A covenant, which at once binds two souls and yet severs prior ties. A celebration of the chance taken and the challenge that lies ahead. For two will always be stronger than one, like a team braced against the tempest civil world. And love will always be the guiding force in our lives. For tonight is mere formality. Only an announcement to the world of feelings long held. Promises made long ago. In the sacred spaces of our hearts.

Goodbye and take care.
